Perform Basic Hardware Check The first thing you should do when your CORSAIR mouse is not working is to perform a basic hardware check. ![]() ![]() Posting this primarily to help anyone else who has this issue and is looking to fix themselves. Opened it up with guidance from elseware (Torx driver for 2 screws, knife blade to unsnap from rear, gently lift rear and pull backwards so front two click snaps come off properly) and tried to clean off that scroll wheel assembly with air, with no success.įound this post, and ended up taking a q-tip liberally sprayed with wd40 and holding it gently against the above circled assembly as I scrolled the wheel back and forth a bunch, being careful not to let errant threads from the q-tip get pulled into the assembly.Įnd result was a noticeable amount of black stuff picked up by the q-tip (plastic dust from wear and tear? manufacturers dry lube?) and a mouse wheel that works properly for the first time in a year+ FInally lost my patience with it today and figured I would take a crack at fixing it myself (mouse is 3+ years old) or just buy a damn replacement. Thanks for this post - I've had the mousewheel issue for a year or so now, and just sort of live with it, but lately it seemed like it was getting worse. I opened it up and sprayed some WD40 on the part pointed out in the picture below.
